DETAILS

As in most other cases with the zerographs, the black fill-ins were done with the same pen, and so the same point size, as the detail work. It seems crazy but I could never stand the difference between the black inks if I'd use a different pen- unless that was specifically what I set out to do, and there are several examples of that idea in this gallery. I also thought the subtleties that came out of using such a fine point for fill in work made the finished product a lot more interesting to look at- I'd have to actually do something with the patterns I was using to fill in the space, whether I liked it or not. It put me in a position to do something creative with something mundane- very appropriate for the zerographs in general. You can't always see the detail in the reproductions but in certain pieces presented in this gallery it's very obvious. There are still a lot of nuances missing but the basic idea comes through.
